Indec Consulting was founded by Mr David Gotze in Melbourne in 1982. David continues to be the company’s Group Managing Director.
The company’s early assignments were related to ERP implementations in the military aircraft industry which at the time was delivering the FA18 Hornet and the PC9 trainer aircraft programs. Building on these early successful ERP systems implementations, the company gradually expanded its practice into other industry sectors including telecommunications, manufacturing, rail and the wider defence contracting industry which supplied the Australian Air Force, Army and Navy.
In early 1990, Mr Peter Shepherd joined the company to expand Indec Consulting’s fledgling Sydney practice. Peter continues to be the Managing Director of Indec’s operations in NSW. At that time, assignments still covered the implementation of ERP and other large asset and resource management systems such as MINCOM. Increasingly, other services included efficiency and productivity improvement programs, project and contract management, ISO 9000 quality system implementations, demand forecasting, and optimising inventories and supply chains.
In 1992, the company secured a major maintenance productivity reform assignment with the Public Transport Corporation in Victoria which resulted in annually recurring savings of A$95 million within three years. The success of that engagement was subsequently replicated for many of Indec’s clients in the road, rail, bus and utilities sectors. It was during the period of 1993 to 1996 that the company expanded its footprint by establishing further offices in Brisbane, Adelaide, Canberra, Perth, and in New Zealand in Auckland and Wellington.
When it was founded, Indec was an abbreviation for ‘Industrial Engineering Consultants’ which reflected the company’s service focus at that time. While many clients still benefit from Indec’s regular application of industrial engineering principles, the company and its professional advisors, researchers and analysts also value Independence, Inspiration, Innovation and Intelligence.
Today, Indec employs in excess of seventy consultants and offers a comprehensive range of professional services to a significant number of public and private organisations and industry sectors.
