Indec is highly experienced with the delivery of complex vehicle delivery projects that not only involve multiple parties but also in an environment where safety is critical.
Indec has partnered with APP Corporation to provide Independent Certifier services for the NSW Regional Rail Project fleet being delivered by Momentum Trains under a $2.8B public-private partnership for Transport for NSW. A key component of the project is the delivery of a new fleet of 29 bi-mode long-distance trains comprising 10 regional intercity trains, 9 short regional trains and 10 long regional trains. Bi-mode technology, a first for trains in Australia, will allow the fleet to use the overhead power supply while travelling on the electrified section of the regional rail network.
As the Independent Certifier, Indec reviews and verifies the design documentation, manufacture, testing and commissioning of the new rolling stock fleet. Our role is to ensure that the project is being delivered in accordance with the Project Deed, the Project Scope and Requirements and the relevant Australian and International Standards.
Indec’s review of verification activities through the design, manufacturing and testing phases culminates in Certification of Acceptance of the rolling stock before the new fleet is placed into service.
The new 29 train fleet will replace the ageing XPT, XPLORER and Endeavour trains currently servicing Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra and regional NSW. The first trains are expected to be running on the network from 2023.
